Safety Tips
MENVO connects you with people near you, but every transaction is between you and the other person. A few common-sense precautions go a long way.
Meeting in person
- Meet in a safe public place and inspect the item before completing a transaction.
- Bring a friend or family member if you can, especially for higher-value items.
- Meet during daylight hours in a busy, well-lit area — many police stations offer a safe exchange spot.
- Trust your instincts. If something feels off, it's okay to cancel or walk away.
Payments
- Avoid sending money before seeing an item in person, and be wary of buyers or sellers who pressure you to pay upfront.
- Never share your bank PIN, one-time passcodes, or full card details with another MENVO user.
- Be cautious of deals that seem too good to be true, or offers to pay more than the asking price.
Protecting your information
- Use MENVO Messages to communicate before meeting — you don't need to share your phone number to arrange a sale.
- Don't share personal financial information, passwords, or ID numbers with other users.
- Review a seller's profile — verified sellers, ratings and "member since" can help you decide who to trust.
Vehicles and higher-value items
- For vehicles, ask to see the title and verify the VIN matches before paying.
- For rentals or property, never wire money for a place you haven't seen in person or verified through a legitimate agent.
